When it comes to recycling, it can be a little challenging initially to determine what can and cannot be recycled. But with just a little effort, you will be recycling like a pro in no time!

The key is to first check with the company that picks up your trash/recycling or your city's waste management site. They will usually provide a list of what items you can recycle through their service along with any other special instructions. This list might include which plastic numbers (1-7) they will accept. All you need to do is check your plastic you wish to recycle for one of these symbols (see below) to determine which number it is. CLICK HERE to learn more about Plastic Number Codes.

Many companies require that cardboard boxes be broken down before recycling. You will also want to check whether they accept aluminum/metal, glass bottles, and newspapers/magazines. Many companies prohibit the recycling of plastic grocery bags, as these can shut down an entire recycling plant.

With just a little research and a commitment to recycle at home, you will be doing your part to help our enviroment, reduce pollution, conserve energy and make our world a better place to live!
